How To Lose Weight For Your Wedding

Don't.

Plus Size Bride

I'm writing this article on a personal level to all my fellow plus-sized brides. To the ones who feel like they have to shed 30-50 pounds before even attempting to find a dress. Who try to starve themselves and go on crazy diets just to feel like they'll be beautiful on their day. To the ones who step on the scale and feel disheartened as it doesn't do what they expect.

You are beautiful.

I'm not saying this because I own a plus-sized wedding dress store, I'm saying this because it's true. When he popped the question, you weren't 100 lb lighter, you were the size you are now. You know what that means? He loves you for who you are now. He loves you for what you look like now. He won't think you're not beautiful in whatever you wear down the aisle, he'll be awestruck all the same.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not here saying it's not bad to lose weight, to get healthier, but you shouldn't do it for a wedding. If you decide to take this path, you should do it for you, for your future, not for one day. Focusing it all on one day will set you up for failure. If you don't reach your goals in time, what will you do? What happens after the wedding? Are you crash dieting and doing dangerous things just to feel skinny?

I weighed 250 lb at my wedding. I wore size 18 pants, and a size 22 dress. My husband couldn't have been happier to see me. He didn't care that I didn't lose a ton of weight before the big day just for the big day. He didn't want to see me crash diet and fall depressed when I couldn't hit my numbers, he loved me and wanted me happy, which I was. Now I am trying to lead a healthier lifestyle for me, for potentially having kids, and, if its an added benefit, for weight loss, but I'm not doing it for photos, for a special day when I'm stressed enough, or because I thought my husband might not love me as I went down the aisle, I'm doing it for me at my own pace.

Here at Marion Bridal, we do want to encourage you to be healthier. Not for the big day, but for you. If you do decide to start working towards a healthier life and lose more than 3 dress sizes after ordering your dress, we'll allow you to exchange your original dress for your new size. If we no longer carry your dress, you can exchange it for one of equal or lesser value for free, or subtract the difference for a higher priced dress.

Remember, you are beautiful, we'll make sure you feel beautiful, and there's not doubt in his mind you are the most beautiful thing he's seen and will ever see.
