In 2018, after six long years of dating, Shawn finally popped the question to Nicole. And, of course, she said yes. Smiles were had, the ring was shown off, everyone asked for a date, all was great.
A few months later, it came time to look for the dress. Nicole was a street size 18, which is about average for women, but apparently not in the wedding dress industry. Plus-sized is still something the industry appeared to be shying away from, as she soon found out. Local places had hardly any dresses that he could try on, and the few that they did have were very limited in style, so she couldn't try an array like most girls. To be able to try on a variety of dresses, she drove over four hours to find a salon that catered to plus-sized brides. However, the price tags were a bit much for her, with $1,500 seeming to be about the starting point and only going up from there.
After all of this, Nicole and Shawn both thought that had to be a better way. The average woman is classified as a size 16/18, so why can't average women find affordable dresses? That is where Marion Bridal was formed. Both Shawn and Nicole wanted other women that were the new average to feel beautiful and get to try on all the popular styles of dresses for their special day without blowing their budgets.
Today, we pride ourselves on providing affordable, quality dresses to women of all sizes. In store, we carry classic 12-32 sizes.
